Fashionizer Staff

Name: Debbie

Role at Fashionizer: Owner and Managing Director

Debbie would be the first to say that no two days are ever the same at Fashionizer, whether it be writing a pitch document for a new uniform programme or meeting with clients. But it’s the excitement of new projects and designs that gets her out of bed in the morning and most days you will likely find her reviewing mood or design boards and making suggestions to the team. But it’s not all glamour; there are also the day-to-day challenges of managing the business, from dealing with the accounts to organising office priorities. Although her responsibilities demand that she wears many hats, there one role which Debbie is passionate about: designing the most innovative and stylish hotel uniforms for the world’s most luxurious brands.

Life Before Fashionizer

Debbie has had a passion for designing clothes from an early age. After gaining a degree in Theatre Design at The Wimbledon School of Arts, she embarked on a career in costume design. Then followed 10 years in the costume departments at film and tv companies, working on a range of primetime dramas. She then moved to Cannon Films, where she created the costumes for the films Rumpelstiltskin and Sleeping Beauty. Her responsibilities soon expanded beyond design, and she set up a costume workshop from scratch, eventually managing a 24-strong team of makers, dressers and assistants. The satisfaction of ‘running the show’ encouraged Debbie to think about starting her own business after having a family, which would fit with her lifestyle and capitalize on her significant expertise. In 1993 Fashionizer was born.
