Fashionizer’s 2016’s Best Nine
Reading Time: 4 minutesDespite all the things that happened in 2016 worldwide, it wasn’t such a bad year for Fashionizer. Considering we’re well into 2017, it’s time to reminisce about our 2016’s “Best Nine”.
Here are Our Best Nine
1) One trade show in the UK
Our sales team attended the Independent Hotel Show in London, for the first time in 2016 and got to meet a lot of people.
2) Two trade shows abroad
Fashionizer has covered a few miles in 2016. In addition to our regular events, we have been first-timer exhibitors at three events: EquipHotel in Paris and Professional Beauty Middle East, where we showed Fashionizer’s spa uniform collection ( and we’ll be doing it again in 2017!!).
3) Third Political Guest
Fashionizer had a small surprise in March by making its parliamentary debut, with the company being highlighted by our local MP Ruth Cadbury in a speech marking International Women’s Day in the House of Commons. That’s a first for us, and an unexpected honour.
4) Four Costume designs
It hasn’t been all work and no play. We were delighted to sponsor the 2016 Restaurant and Bar Design Awards, not least because we got to kit out the dancers at the event in four decades of fashion: 70s, 80s, 90s and Noughties.
5) Five star hotel opening
The Ned, opening in the spring of 2017 is set in the restored Grade I listed Midland Bank building in the City of London. Fashionizer has designed and manufactured the uniforms for 500 staff, from the sky-skimming roof-top bar overlooking The Bank of England, to the depths of the basement bar in the vaults (which were, incidentally, last seen in the Bond film Goldfinger). The project, which includes restaurants, poolside and club, is a joint venture between Soho House and US hotel group Sydell.
6) Six inch heels …or less
The new UK PM received as many column inches for her shoe choice as her policies. A furore was created when a woman was sent home for wearing flats not heels…So 2016 seemed like a good year for Fashionizer to launch into providing footwear as part of our full uniform offering. From 2017, we will officially be adding shoes to our stock collections.
7) Seven thousand kilometres away
Fashionizer is now starting work on rejuvenating the uniforms for Four Seasons Dubai at Jumeirah Beach. We created a full uniform programme for the resort’s opening in 2014, and the refreshment is part of a natural evolution to keep the property at the sharp end of luxury, while maintaining the brand values of elegance and style.
8) Eight times more stock
More and more clients are choosing Fashionizer uniforms for their housekeeping staff. We are accelerating production of our Aster and Orchid dresses and expect to have an increased amount of stock available from January 2017.
9) Nine year long ( and over) partnership
Fashionizer and The Merrion are old partners: we have been collaborating for 15 years. The iconic hotel in Dublin will be opening its new garden restaurant in the spring. Fashionizer is producing the uniforms which reflect the classic elegance of the Georgian building combined with the modern functionality of a contemporary hotel.
For uniform designers, 2016 is often about 2017, because we are always working ahead. Fashionizer’s 2016 labour results shall be revealed in the spring 2017 !
