The Brief
Harrods is synonymous with luxury. One of the world’s great retail brands, it has a reputation for unparalleled quality of goods and service.
Harrods’ journey began in 1849 as a small grocery store in Knightsbridge — the very location where the legendary department store stands today. It now houses over 300 luxury departments, attracts more than 15 million visitors each year and ranks among London’s top attractions. A landmark moment in the store’s recent evolution was the 2017–18 transformation of its iconic food halls, a cornerstone of the Harrods experience, which included a full refresh of the staff uniforms.
Fashionizer's Uniform Solution
The brief was to create a distinctive look while maintaining maximum functionality — especially important in food serving areas. The new Harrods Food Hall uniforms include classic bespoke waistcoats, shirts and asymmetric mandarin collared jackets, alongside smart on-brand aprons. Matching the materials precisely to the famous Harrods branding — a distinctive olive green with gold accents — was critical and required approval from various stakeholders at the store.
The Outcome
The new uniforms successfully created a fresh, cohesive image for the food halls, generating considerable attention and proving highly Instagrammable. The garments were praised for their combination of style and practicality, and in 2019 the new uniforms were introduced to the Harrods Café in Dubai.
