The Brief
England and Wales’s first luxury sleeper train is a fresh take on the golden age of rail travel, offering a slower, softer way to experience this green and pleasant land. Launching in 2025 and departing from London Victoria, the train offers journeys through Cornwall, the Lake District, and Wales, celebrating slow luxury travel and blending British heritage with luxurious food and contemporary creativity.
The train’s design by Studio Albion Nord pays tribute to the golden crops, flint-tipped seas and mist-shrouded meadows rolling past outside. Wooden panelling and emerald-green corridors evoke stately homes, with stitched textiles resembling underwater algae, dried wildflowers and leaf-adorned sconces: a celebration of Britishness through romance, refinement and exceptional craftsmanship.
Fashionizer was entrusted by the Belmond project team to create bespoke uniforms for this landmark train. The brief was to complement this unique British concept, less formal and more playful than traditional sleeper trains.
Fashionizer's Uniform Solution
When Fashionizer developed the uniforms for the Britannic Explorer, the focus was on creating a style that blended with the train’s luxurious interiors whilst capturing its unapologetically British spirit.
The collection features exclusive British made fabrics in sage greens, soft creams and yellows, chosen to complement the train’s nature-inspired palette. Collarless double-breasted waistcoats and jackets, crafted in traditional herringbone and checks, honour British tailoring heritage whilst bringing a fresh, contemporary appeal.
The look is completed with quirky bold cravats and ties, adding a playful touch. Soft, earthy tones combined with traditional British fabrics strike the perfect balance between sophistication and approachability, ensuring the uniforms seamlessly blend classic craft with modern style.
The Outcome
The Britannic Explorer launched in July 2025, with Fashionizer’s uniforms forming an integral part of its distinctive visual identity. The collection brought the train’s British spirit to life through considered fabric choices and tailoring details that sit in harmony with the overall design concept.
Following the launch, Fashionizer introduced a seasonal option for management: linen jackets in the same herringbone green as the winter wool, ensuring visual consistency across the team throughout the year. Lightweight and breathable for the summer months, they reflect Fashionizer’s approach to thinking through the full lifecycle of a uniform collection, season by season.
