Fashionizer / The Ned, London

The Ned, London

The Project

The Ned Hotel is one of London’s most anticipated new hotel opening in recent years.

A collaboration between SoHo House and the Sydell Group, the hotel is in the former Midland Bank. The original bank building was designed in the 1920s by the celebrated architect, Sir Edward Lutyens. The renovation of the historic property preserved the art deco splendour of the original building, while showcasing urban style and elegance.

The Ned Hotel has 252 rooms, nine restaurants, a member’s club, rooftop bar and pool. Fashionizer designed bespoke uniforms for the 500-strong staff throughout.

Fashionizer’s Solution

An iconic building needs iconic uniforms. Fashionizer’s brief for The Ned Hotel was to embrace the style of the historic building, as well as maintain the hotel’s identity as a modern, destination hotel in the city.

The uniforms include black dresses and skirts worn by the waitresses with a flash of malachite green in a front pleat, reflecting the verdite columns in the building. The bar staff in the former bank vault have City-inspired blue pinstripe shirts and burgundy waistcoats, while staff in the rooftop bar wear contemporary patterned cardigans.

In order to deliver the required look, Fashionizer developed and sourced specialist fabrics from premium UK and European suppliers. In addition, we used high-spec manufacturers to create the garments.

The rooftop bar staff’s natty cardigans make them the best-dressed waiters in town.
